2018 Fishing Derby
The chapter recently held the 14th annual Youth Fishing Derby in conjunction with the Grove City Sportsmen Club. It was held on June 16th at the GCSC grounds on Centertown Road under blue skies and sunshine. There were 24 kids who attended this year’s event and by the smiles on their faces all had a great time. The fishing was good with a variety of species being caught from panfish to trout and bass.
The kids took a short break from fishing to enjoy lunch provided by the GCSC and prizes, provided by the Neshannock Chapter, were given to all participants. The Grand Prize, a fly fishing outfit donated by L.L. Bean, was won by a young boy from Grove City there with his grandfather who promised to get outdoors and do some more fishing with his prize this summer.
Thanks to all the helpers who made this another great event and we look forward to doing it again next year. Mark your calendars for the Saturday before Father’s Day next year and plan to bring your children/grandchildren to this annual event.
