2014 Environmental Education Day at Buhl Park in Hermitage, Pa

Fifth grade students from Sharon and Farrel, Pa  will have the opportunity to attend Environmental Education Day on Tuesday October 7th, at Buhl Park.  The event is coordinated by the Shenango River Watchers organization.  During the regular school day the students travel to the park by school bus where they will spend the day outdoors, learning about the environment from professionals in the environmental field.

Students will rotate through 7 different 40 minute stations.  Neshannock Chapter of TU will run the station ”Stream Conservation and Appreciation of Fishing”.  Volunteers from our chapter talk to the students about fly tying, fly casting, and learning to fish.  They will get the opportunity to watch fly tying, to actually cast a fly rod, and to use spinning and bait casting rods on the pond at the park.
