- Opening Comments – Jeff Kremis / President
- Passing of M. Cook – Margaret Cook, mother of board member Carol Jochman, passed away Jan 20th in Niles, Ohio; she was 95 years old. We discussed making a donation to YSU in Margaret’s memory.Bill Melaro made a motion to donate $50 to the James and Margaret Cook Scholarship fund at Youngstown State University, Jim Mondok seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

- No Report – Carol was absent
4. CommitteeReports:
A. Stream Improvement – Jeff Kremis
- Sharpsville Beagle Club (SBC) – Chuck Orr, new president of SBC will contact Jeff when we can hold a joint meeting of our two organizations.
- North Deer Creek – They will hold a meeting on Saturday, Feb 21st at the Library in Cochranton, Pa.
- Comments on Live Bait Fishing – The Pa Fish & Boat Commission is asking for comments on a proposal to allow live bait fishing for children on the DHALO project streams in Pa. They will be recording comments for 60 days.
- Trout Raceway – Bill said the fish continue to grow fast and the raceway is becoming crowded.
- Regional Cooperative Seminar Meeting – The Cooperative Nursery Association will sponsor a seminar in Meadville, Pa to bring members up to date on their latest news and operating procedures.
- Well Tested – Jim Mondok reported the water well at Munnell Run Farm was tested for drinkability by Hillcorp Company and the results were good.
C. Banquet – Nick Loprire & Carol Jochman
- Banquet Planning Meeting – Nick reported that he and Carol will meet and decide what they need to order from Orvis Company (through Bob Shuey).
- Prizes – Board members held a general discussion regarding types of prizes, and where they should be raffled off, i. e., the Silent Auction, the Verbal Auction, the Rod Raffle, or the Bucket Raffle.
- Possible Credit Card Charges – Board members discussed the latest trend in swiping credit cards through a small device that attaches to an IPAD. If we purchased such a device, it would allow our patrons to use credit cards.
- Mid-January Issue – Nick is finishing up; it should be available soon
E. Membership – Tom Jochman was Absent – No report
F. Youth Committee – Various
- Wolf Creek Fishing Derby – A date was selected for the 2015 derby; it will be held on Saturday April 25th. John Jones, Secretary for the Grove City Sportsman’s Club, e-mailed R. Natoli and said the club would be happy to support the derby again this year.
G. Marcellus Shale – Jim Kearney
- Jim reported that 72 % of Pa’s drinking water comes from surface ponds, streams, and rivers. He is concerned that 17.8 billion gallons of water was removed from the Susquehanna Watershed surface water sources for use in Marcellus Shale drilling operations. Jim also reported that 24 billion gallons of water went to treatment centers in an effort to clean up these fluids that were recaptured from the drilling process.
H. Trout in the Classroom (TIC) – Reg McClelland / Jeff Kremis
- Reg reported that Jan Abernathy, coordinator for East School in Greenville, is on a health sabbatical. Another teacher, Chad Gongaware, will be taking over her responsibilities. All of us from Neshannock Chapter wish Jan all the best and hope that she is feeling well soon.
- Trout Egg Shortage – Some of the TIC school programs had an egg shortage, so the Pa Fish & Boat Commission will be shipping them some “trout fry” to make up for the shortage.
5. Old Business:
- Chapter Website – R. Natoli reported that website software programmer Eli Natoli will take a look at the HOME PAGE SLIDES area to see if it can be fixed. At that time she can also make some other minor changes. If anyone has some changes in mind, contact R. Natoli.
- Unassessed Waters Initiative – No Report
6. New Business:
- Neshannock Chapter Membership Meeting – The meeting will be held Saturday, February 21st from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Munnell Run Pig Barn. A light lunch with refreshments will be provided. Tim Wilson, Fisheries Biologist, from the Linesville Fish Hatchery will give a talk. Rick Stephens from Mercer School will also be contacted about a possible talk about kids participation in T.I.C.
