Neshannock Creek DHALO - 12 March 05

Because of an 'overcrowded trout raceway situation', approximately 100 rainbow trout were stocked in the Neshannock delayed-harvest section by Munnell Run Trout Nursery personnel, Ken Tarczy & Bill Stevens. Average length was 10 inches. Laurel SD students float stocked the nursery raised trout and 'lunker trout' provided by Bob Shuey of the Neshannock Creek Fly Shop.

Coolspring Creek - 1 March 05

Despite poor weather conditions, nine TU volunteers braved the heavy snow & assisted the Fish Commission in stocking Coolspring, Tuesday, March 1st. Weather & streeam conditions did not permit 'float-stocking' the delayed-harvest section. Approximately 800 trout were stocked at the mid & lower sections of the project.

Neshannock Creek DHALO - 31 December 04

Overcrowding in the trout nursery raceway started to become a problem. Some trout were showing signs of 'fin wear'. Thus, it was necessary to stock a few trout ahead of our normal 'cabin fever' stocking in January; sometimes February.

December 31st was a pleasant day to stock trout. We delivered and stocked 200 rainbow trout at the upper end of the Neshannock Creek DHALO area location. Volunteer help consisted of: Ken Tarczy (& grandchildren), Jim Noble, Ray Magensky and Pete Anthony. Bob Shuey & several trout fishermen were on hand at the Outdoor Shop to help with the stocking.

Average length of trout were 10 inches. (There were a 'few dinks'. However, they earned their freedom too.)

Coolspring Creek - 13 October 04

Coolspring DHALO area was stocked with Fish Commission trout, Wednesday, October 13th. Approximately 400 trout were stocked. TU members assisting the Commission staff were: Jim Williams, Ken Tarczy, Dick Natoli, Chuck Rohrer, & Pete Anthony; plus approximately six non-members. Upper 2/3 section of the project was 'float-stocked'. Lower section (big rock area) trout were carried in by buckets and stocked. Trout were good size and very healthy looking.

Neshannock Creek - 25 June 04

Members of the Munnell Run Cooperative Trout Nursery staff stocked approximately 235 trout at the upper end of the Neshannock delayed-harvest section, Friday morning, June 25th. Trout were donated by the 3CU of Erie. The stocking consisted of browns and rainbows, with a few brookies and steelheads. Trout were in the 12 to 16 inch class.

Sandy Creek - 17 May 04

Brown trout were stocked in Sandy Creek, a section adjacent to State Game Lands 130, Monday, May 17th. Ray Magensky, his grandson Hans, and Don Garrett & his son Tim performed the stocking.

Pine Run Stocked With Trout - 21 Apr 04

Approximately 100 brown trout were stocked at several locations on Pine Run, Wednesday evening, April 21, 2004. Ray Magensky and Don Garrett, nursery team members, supervised the stocking. Hats off to parents/guardians and members of Mercer's Cub Packs 35 and 58 for assisting with the stocking.

Wolk Creek Project Stocking - 16 Apr 04

Stocked 33 palominos and 2 browns in Wolf Creek (12 and under project) Friday morning, April 16th. Kids should have a 'field day' opening day. Palominos averaged 15" (several 18" plus); none under 12 inches. (The two browns 'were along for the ride.)

Didn't stock Coolspring DHALOA as planned. Reason: insufficient number of palominos. Three palominos remain in the raceway for a 'kid's day program scheduled by the Mercer County Conservation District for Saturday, April 17th.
