Fall Membership Meeting of PATUJeff Kremis & Reg McClelland The annual fall membership meeting for PATU was held on the weekend of October 13 & 14 in State College. Reg McClelland and myself attended to represent the Neshannock Chapter. Scott Carney, PFBC Biologist started the meeting off with a presentation on "Restoring Habitat by removing Non-beneficial Dams". He outlined the PFBC program on dam removal. Most dams removed to date have been in the Chesapeake Bay watershed to help restore shad migration. He showed some before and after pictures that demonstrated Mother Natures ability to return to a normal river channel in two years or less. The Youth Committee reported that the 2001 Rivers Conservation and Fly Fishing Youth Camp put on by PATU is to be featured on TUTV airing in early November on ESPN2, watch your local listings. Applications for the 2002 camp to be held June 16-21 are now available. As usual our chapter is looking for a student to sponsor so if you know someone between the ages 14 to 17 that is interested let us know. |
