There was justification when the original designation was made. Now that the PFBC is forced to spend big bucks to correct the problem at Big Spring, it must reduce the number of trout due to a limited budget. Could it be that their thinking is to change the FF only regulations to appease anglers due to the cut in trout production. I dont think fly fisherman will complain about fewer fish in the FF only projects but I for one dont see anything beneficial in turning the few FF only projects into Delayed Harvest. This proposal could be become law in 2003 unless PUBLIC SENTIMENT is against it. To voice your opinion, jump on that computer and email your comments to ra-pfbcregs@state.pa.us. YOUR subject heading must read "Public Comment-Delayed Harvest" and a return name and address must be included in each transmission. No computer, just mail your comments to Executive Director, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, P.O. Box 67000, Harrisburg, PA 17106-7000. "Public Comment-Delayed Harvest" should be noted on the envelope. |

A Better Opportunity for All??N. Loprire The PFBC is seeking opinions from anglers about a proposal to change the fly fishing only designation on some of PAs streams to Delayed harvest. This would simplify regulations. In their words, "Standardizing the regulations doesnt take opportunities away from fly fishermen, but certainly could increase opportunities to other anglers." How can you argue with that statement? It DOES provide more opportunities for more anglers to fish these waters. Wasnt the original idea to designate a precious few waters for fly fisherman ONLY? |
