Coolspring Creek Delayed-Harvest Area
Pete Anthony

Trout fishermen are asked to please record their fishing results on the log in the mailbox at the footbridge area, or at the old railroad bed location. The Chapter sponsored trout nursery has been stocking a sizeable number of brown trout in Coolspring. We need to know your results.

The Fish Commission will stock Coolspring in early March. The exact date & time for the spring stocking is unknown at this time. Last year's volunteers & others will be notified as soon as the date is known.

Most areas of the creek have been frozen solid for the past month. The only positive thing about the freeze-up is that the blue heron is not hurting the trout population. We have been experiencing such nice winters for the past several years that the heron have not migrated south.

If one is wondering why some of the trees are wrapped with chicken wire, the reason is to prevent those 'busy little beavers'from destroying the trees that hopefully will someday provide shade for the stream as well as prevent stream bank erosion.
