1. Opening Comments Jeff Kremis / President
Thank You Card - Jeff received a Thank You card and a $25 donation from Trout Unlimited member Jeri Bullock who fishes Neshannock Creek.
2. Minutes from Last Meeting R. Natoli / Secretary
The minutes were approved from February 28, 2011.
3. Treasurer’s Report Jeff Kremis/Carol Jochman
Receipts & Disbursements Report – Carolreviewed the financial report for March, and there were some slight changes requested.
T. Jochman made a motion to approve the changes, J. Mondok seconded, and the motion passed.
The Treasurers Reports will be filed for future audit
4. Committee Reports:
A. Stream Improvement Jeff Kremis
Coolspring Creek Work Day – The work Day will be Saturday, April 9th.
North Deer Creek – Eric Armburger reported that Darryl Black, sportswriter for the Erie Times paper will write an article about the Deer Creek Stream Improvements Project. He also said that the trout stocking went well, they had stream flooding due to recent heavy rains, and that four members of his Deer Creek Consortium would be attending our banquet this year. Eric and Mark Sausser will meet on March 30th to do a project layout for rehabilitating a “deeper water pool” in North Deer Creek.
B. Nursery Pete Anthony & Ken Tarczy
Stocking Request – Pete said he received a request for stocking the West Branch of Neshannock Creek from Campbell Farm. He thinks we should be able to donate about 50 trout, and everyone agreed.
C. Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire& Carol Jochman
Newsletter – Nick said that the issue following our banquet would include the names of the companies and individuals who were sponsors for the banquet, and a summary of the earnings. He will also include a notice concerning mailings of the Newsletter; unless we hear from the individuals who now receive the newsletter in the US Postal Service, they will be dropped from the mailing list. The goal is to have all electronic mailings.
Banquet – John Gavalier called Nick to say that Bob Bollino is willing to donate a trout wood carving for our banquet in exchange for 2 tickets. Bob is an excellent wood carver, and he will bring other carving examples for a display. All agreed this was a good deal. Also, R. Natoli reported he picked up the T-Shirts and Bill Stevenson has the hats.
Banquet Ticket Count – Nick reported the latest count he has is around 172. He also reviewed banquet job assignments and the room layout.

E. Youth Committee Jeff Kremis
Wolf Creek Youth Fishing Derby – R. Natoli and Carol Jochman
Jeff Kremis received the approved activities permit from the Pa Fish & Boat Commission. R. Natoli reported he has enough “left over” hats for this year’s derby, and that we will include Views and Voices magazine in this year’s press release in early April.
Kids Event in May at Buhl Park in Sharon – Nick Loprire
The Shenango River Watchers (SRW) are holding a kids event at 8:00 AM on Tuesday, May 3rd in Buhl Park in Sharon. Possible volunteers include N. Loprire, J. Kearney, W. Stevenson, and K. Tarczy. There may be about 200 kids attending.
Cub Scout Tour – Tom Jochman
The date is Saturday, May 14 at 8:00 AM for a tour of our Munnell Run Nursery and the wetlands, a fly casting demonstration, Coolspring Creek min-stocking, and a discussion of various stream improvement projects our chapter works on. Possible volunteers include R. Natoli, T. Harris, K. Tarczy, and P. Anthony.
5. Old Business:
Trout in the Classroom (TIC) – Jeff Kremis / Reg McClelland
Jeff is discussing activities with Don Feigert, who writes for the Sharon Herald, and he asked Don to come and take photos in the classroom where the fish tank is located. The trout stocking will take place some weekday in April around 4:00 PM when the kids are out of school for the day.
Chapter Bylaws – Jeff reported that TU volunteer Bill Melaro is currently updating our chapter by-laws; the goal is for completion this fall.
Marcellus Shale CCC Training – Jeff, Jim Kearney, and Reg McClelland attended the training in Clarion, Pa this past Saturday. They received information and a testing kit equipped with a GPS unit for testing stream water. The training was sponsored by TU and the Alliance for Aquatic Resources Monitoring (A.L.A.R.M.). We will be testing for dissolved solids in the stream water, which is an indicator of water quality. The streams to monitor will be our choice. All of the “water testing on stream” reports will be sent to TU’s web site where they will be available for all to read.
