The minutes were approved as revised per P. Anthony’s changes T. Jochman motioned to accept minutes as revised, R. McClelland seconded, and the motion passed
3. Treasurer’s Report Jeff Kremis/Carol Jochman
Receipts & Disbursements Report Carolreviewed the reports ending April 30th and May 24th. The Treasurers Reports will be filed for future audit.
Deposit for 2011 Banquet Date Carol secured March 26th at the Radisson with a deposit
4. Committee Reports:
A. Stream Improvement Jeff Kremis
Big Run Workday Saturday July 10th We will use a chain saw and power-nailer to secure the remaining boards needed to complete a mudsill on Big Run Stream.
Next Workday at Coolspring Creek October 2nd at 9:00 AM will be the next scheduled workday.
Deer Creek Eric Armburger reported they took signs down at the kids fishing area after the 30-day permit expired. He also said their Deer Creek Consortium meeting scheduled for June 12th has been cancelled.
Deer Creek Workday Logs are cut, and everything is ready to go for August 28th
Cochranton, Parade They want to borrow our Trout Unlimited Banner to hang on the float for their parade entry; Tom Jochman will deliver the banner to Eric.
B. Nursery Pete Anthony & Ken Tarczy
Nursery Cleanup Saturday, June 5th will be the day to clean the raceway at the nursery; this will be in preparation for the delivery of the 2010/2011 trout fingerlings. Pete said 1400 Browns and 20 Golden Rainbows would be delivered to the nursery June 28.
C. Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire
Summer Picnic Shenango River Watchers They asked us for a donated prize to use at their June 26th picnic. Nick suggested a matted / unframed Trout print and Jim Mondok will deliver it for us.
Newsletter Nick requested that Ken Tarczy send him a report on his Lee’s Ferry fishing trip that Nick could put into the next Newsletter. Ken was fishing on the Colorado River in Utah, and he had a great time.
D. Membership Tom Jochman
Tom reported 4 more additions to the electronic newsletter list.
E. Youth Committee Jeff Kremis
YMCA Request for Assistance Jeff received e-mail from Charles Brown, Shenango Valley YMCA (724-981-6950, cell phone 724-301-9552), who asked Jeff for some help with training youth for fly-fishing. Charles is an avid fly fisherman, so he may only need the loan of our chapter fly rods. Nick Loprire volunteered to contact him to get more information.
Youth Field Day June 12th Grove City Sportsman’s Club Nick Loprire and Pete Anthony will run the TU Station to instruct the kids with fly casting techniques. The event will be held at the Grove City Sportsman’s Club and run from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM with lunch provided for all of the kids and volunteers.
F. Trout in the Classroom (TIC) Jeff Kremis
Teacher Training June 21st Jeff and Hermitage teacher Rick Stevens will attend the training in Lockhaven, Pa this month.
TIC Fundraiser TU National sent us books of raffle tickets to sell with the proceeds going to Trout in the Classroom. Several board members took tickets to sell.
5. Old Business:
Pete Anthony presented a written proposal for the duties of our web site change coordinator. Pete agreed to serve until September 30, and after that the board would have to appoint a TU Member to take over. Tom Jochman agreed to send out an e-mail request soliciting interested parties for the position. Here are Pete’s written procedures that will be used to report changes to the Chapter’s Web Master, John Siebert:
Appoint a Chapter Member to coordinate all actions to update the Chapter’s Web Site. Term: Three Years
Newsletter Editor will continue the practice of publishing the Clearwater Gazette, coordinating the copy with Board Members & Officers before final release, and sending the final copy to the Web Master (John Siebert).
Board Secretary will continue the practice of coordinating the Minutes of The Meeting with Board Members & Officers before releasing the final copy to the Web Master.
All other changes to the Web Site will be sent to the Chapter’s Web Site Coordinator who in turn will submit changes to the Web Master.
Web Site Coordinator will notify the Chapter’s Membership Person when it is necessary to disseminate an announcement to all email addresses informing them of recent changes to the Web Site.
Web Site Coordinator will obtain approval from the Board Members & Officers of any major changes/enhancements to the Web Site.
A motion was made by Jim Mondok to accept Pete’s written proposal, Tom Jochman seconded it, and the motion passed.
6. New Business:
Chapter Donations The board members discussed this, and decided on the following donations:
1. PaTU - $650 to State Council & $150 to Pa Trout Magazine
2. Munnell Run Farm Foundation - $400
3. 3CU in care of Bob Hetz - $300
A motion was made by Tom Jochman, seconded by R. Natoli, and the motion passed (Note that 2 abstentions were Jim Mondok and Jeff Kremis since they also serve on the board of directors of the Munnell Run Farm Foundation).
Other possible donations Three other worthy causes were brought up, and will be discussed at the August meeting:
1. Stanley Snyder VFW Post in Springfield Township
2. Casting for Recovery
3. Mercer County Federation of Sportsman’s Youth Field Day
Coolspring Creek Tree Planting Pete Anthony will lead a group of TU volunteers to plant some trees along the banks of Coolspring Creek next Tuesday, June 1st at 5:30 PM.
