1. Opening Comments –  Jeff Kremis / President
  • TU Fall Meeting – Jeff said that he and Reg McClelland would attend the Pa TU fall meeting October 3rd and 4th to be held in Bellefontaine, Pa near Spring Creek.  They reserved rooms in Lamar, Pa and that is about 25 miles north of the meeting place.
2. Minutes from Last Meeting – R. Natoli / Secretary
  • The August minutes were approved with the stipulation that 2010 Banquet ticket prices are to be corrected in the September minutes.
3. Treasurer’s Report – Jeff Kremis/Carol Jochman
  • Receipts & Disbursements Report – Jeff’s reviewed the reports ending August 31st and September 30th.
  • Transfer of job responsibilities – Jeff confirmed that Treasurers duties would be transferred to Carol Jochman after the Neshannock Chapter financial report is submitted to TU National.
  • Coolspring Expenses – Money used for improvements to Cool Spring Creek (approximately $569) will be transferred out of the Coolspring CD and into the FNB account when the CD comes due for renewal.
  • The Treasurers Report will be filed for future audit
4. Committee Reports:

A. Stream Improvement – Jeff Kremis

  • Coolspring Creek Walking Bridge Repairs – The footbridge at the bottom of the hill from the main parking lot needs to be repaired.  Ken Tarczy and Bill Stevenson will estimate the damage and come up with a cost for materials needed and time to repair.
  • Deer Creek Work Day – Eric Armburger reported the workday on Saturday, August 29th was a success.  They had so much rain early in the morning that the stream level went up about 12 inches, but after the weather settled down, they were able to complete all of their tasks.  They constructed a 30-foot long mudsill and two stream deflectors upstream from the mudsill.  Board members Jim Mondok and Pete Anthony were on hand to help and Pete took movies of the construction work.  Eric said that he would do a write-up that Nick could put in the newsletter.
  • Deer Creek Meeting Eric said that their next meeting would be on Saturday, October 17th at the French Creek Administration Building.  The main topic to be discussed is the location for a children’s fishing area.  All are welcome to attend.
  • Wolf Creek – Jim Mondok reported that the contractor who did the recent work on the Grove City Sewage Treatment Plant volunteered their services to dredge the stream in front of the children’s fishing area on Wolf Creek.  Jim will follow up with them.

B. Nursery – Pete Anthony & Ken Tarczy

  • Trout Nursery Inspection – Ken reported that the September inspection by the Pa Fish & Boat Commission went very well.  Average size of the Brown Trout was 8 inches, and 10 inches for the Golden Rainbows.  He said the fish are growing so fast that raceway may get too crowded; that means we may have to do a fall stocking.
  • 3 CU Donation – Bob Hetz from 3CU sent a thank you card to show his appreciation for the chapter’s donation.

C. Banquet / Newsletter -  Nick Loprire

  • Ticket Prices for 2010 – The agreed upon prices for next year are $30 per person, $55 per couple, and $35 per person the day of the banquet.
  • Shenango River Watchers – Nick will pick out some prizes the chapter can donate to Jennifer Barborack for their October 24th banquet.
  • March 2010 Banquet Prizes  - Carol is looking for a flat screen TV and a Sports game Wii that we could use at the banquet.
  • Newsletter / Chuck Allen’s Notes – Nick’s good friend Chuck left some interesting notes that Nick will use to create stories for future editions of our newsletter.
  • Newsletter – Nick reported that the post office is getting picky about what they will allow related to the sponsors.  They asked for a copy to approve prior to publishing.  We had a general discussion on ways to save bulk mailing costs; we spend approximately $1300 to mail 4 newsletters per year.

D. Membership – Tom Jochman

  • E-Mail addresses – Tom will ask the members on his electronic list to add their e-mail addresses on their renewal applications to our Neshannock Chapter 216.  That way, Tom could e-mail them the newsletter and save some bulk mailing costs.
  • Member Status – We have 224 members in our chapter at the present time; a slight increase over last year.
  • Chapter Board Member List – Tom asked Dick Natoli to revise the chapter board member list because he was too busy.  The revised list accounts for officer changes and new members Bill Stevenson and Eric Armburger.

E. Youth Coordinator – Nobody Assigned

5. Old Business:
  • Beagle Club Picnic – Jeff Kremis will contact new Beagle Club President Doug Pears to cancel the October 10th date for a joint picnic meeting.  Everyone felt that Pete Anthony should be there, and he is unavailable due to a knee replacement.
  • Board Member Confirmation – We officially recognized new member Eric Armburger:

Tom Jochman made a motion that Eric Armburger be appointed a member to the Neshannock Chapter Board of Directors with a Term of Expiration date of 01/31/03.  Jim Mondok seconded the motion and it passed.
6. New Business:
  • Wood Bass & Trout Mountings – Dick Natoli brought 3 mountings to show board members; the wooden fish carvings were given to Pete Anthony from Bill & Kathy Ruth.  Dick mounted them on driftwood found at Breakwater Beach in Geneva on the shores of Lake Erie.  Jeff Kremis suggested we donate a mounting (2 Rainbow Trout) to Pa TU at the fall meeting October 3rd, and Jim Mondok suggested we donate a 2nd mounting (1 Bass) to the Shenango River Watchers for their October 24th banquet.  All board members agreed we should donate the first two and the third (1 Bass) will be put in our silent auction at our March 2010 banquet.
