1. Opening Comments –  Jeff Kremis / President
  • New TU member –  Jeff welcomed new member Tom Harris who is going to help out with the volunteers at Munnell Run Nursery.  Pete Anthony suggested we give Tom a TU hat and everyone agreed.
2. Minutes from Last Meeting – R. Natoli / Secretary
  • The minutes were approved with P. Anthony’s revisions.
3. Treasurer’s Report – Jeff Kremis/Carol Jochman
  • Receipts & Disbursements Report – Jeff’s reviewed the report ending July 31st.
  • Transfer of job responsibilities – Jeff said the transfer of responsibilities to Carol would be completed after Neshannock Chapter financial report is submitted to TU National in October.
  • The Treasurers Report will be filed for future audit
4. Committee Reports:

A. Watershed Coordinator – Carol Jochman for Jeff Kremis

  • Coolspring Creek Walking Bridge Repairs – The footbridge at the bottom of the hill from the main parking lot needs to be repaired.  Messer’s Tarczy, Anthony, and Stevenson will estimate the damage and come up with a cost for materials needed and the time to repair it.
  • Beagle Club Picnic – Jeff Kremis will contact new Beagle Club President Doug Pears and determine if Saturday, October 10th is an agreeable date for a joint picnic meeting.
  • TU Fall Meeting – Jeff said that he and Reg McClelland would like to attend the fall meeting to be held in Bellefontaine, Pa near Spring Creek.
  • Pete Anthony made a motion to pay for their lodging and meals, Jim Mondok seconded it, and the motion passed.
  • Deer Creek Work Day – Eric Armburger said that the workday would start at 8:00 AM on Saturday, August 29th at the stream.  They will construct a 30-foot long mudsill with two stream deflectors upstream from the mudsill.  All the materials necessary to complete the project are on hand, and they expect enough volunteers to complete the job in one day.  However, Eric invited all of our board members and nursery volunteers to attend and participate.

    Pete Anthony made a motion that Neshannock Chapter pay for the expenses incurred at the Deer Creek workday, Tom Jochman seconded it, and the motion passed.

B. Nursery – Pete Anthony & Ken Tarczy

  • Trout Delivered – Pete reported that the June 6th Raceway Cleanup Day went very well, and there were plenty of volunteers helping to get the raceway ready for the new trout.  There were 1400 Brown Trout delivered in late June for the 2010 trout-stocking season.  Pete said two new volunteers are helping out at the nursery; they are Tom Harris and Mike Kelly.

C. Banquet / Newsletter -  Nick Loprire

  • March 20th, 2010 Banquet Prizes Discussed:
    1. 9Ft – 4 Wt – 5 Pc Diamond Back Rod made by Jim Brown
    2. Items Bequeathed to Neshannock Chapter by the late Chuck Allen:
      1. Custom made Orvis “Side-By-Side” Shotgun
      2. 9Ft – 4 Pc Fishing Rod  - looks brand new - probably never used
      3. Several reels including Pfleuger, Martin, and Orvis Battenkill
  • Sell Equipment on EBAY? – Bob Shuey suggested that we could sell some of the equipment that Chuck Allen donated on EBAY and get more money than we could acquire at the banquet. 
  • TV Giveaway – Carol Jochman will pickup a high definition, flat screen TV if she finds a good deal.
  • Possible Fly Tiers - Bob Shuey suggested Scott Laughtner
  • Possible Guide Service – George Daniels from State College, Pa
  • Ticket Prices – We discussed raising ticket prices $10 next year with an additional penalty for ticket sales at the front door of the banquet.
  • NEWSLETTER – Nick is requesting articles for the fall issue; he needs the information by mid-October.

D. Membership – Tom Jochman

E. Youth Coordinator – Nobody Assigned

5. Old Business:
  • Neshannock Chapter Donations - Jeff Kremis:
    1. PATU – $400 ($150 to Pa Trout Magazine and $250 to Pa State Council)
    2. Shenango River Watchers – 2 banquet tickets or else donate items for their auction
    3. 3CU – Bob Hetz - $300
       
      Munnell Run Farm Foundation - $400 (already donated last spring) Pete Anthony made a motion to add the three items A, B, and C listed above, Bob Shuey seconded the motion, and it passed.
6. New Business:
  • Clean up on Coolspring Creek Watershed – Ken Ferrans from Lake Latonka is heading up a group that is applying for a grant to clean up the watershed.  Per Jim Mondok, their goal is to improve water quality in their lake and in Coolspring Creek.
