A. Watershed Coordinator Jeff Kremis/Jim Mondok
- Wolf Creek Flow Improvement Jeff reported that WCO Jeff Giardina told him that Thomas Tarkowski of the PA Fish & Boat Commission stated dredging would not be permitted in Wolf Creek. Jeff said that he still plans on contacting Ken Anderson for his recommendations on how to improve stream flow and eliminate the silt buildup in the Children’s & Handicapped Fishing Area.
- Work Day / Deer Creek Project - The Deer Creek Consortium members will meet in March to discuss the next phase of their stream project which involves creating a 60 foot long modified mud sill, and a 20 to 25 foot long Multi-log Vane Deflector. They will attend our March meeting and give a status report.
- Pa Legislator’s Breakfast Jeff attended a breakfast meeting on February 7th at the Stone Arch Restaurant in Greenville for area legislators. He said that most of the discussion was related to gun issues; they discussed revising the law to allow one gun purchase per month.
B. Nursery Pete Anthony & Ken Tarczy
- Trout Nursery Seminar The yearly seminar will be held in Oil City on Saturday March 14th; anyone interested in attending should contact Pete.
- New Feeding Schedule Ken reported significant growth in the Golden Rainbows and good growth with the Brown Trout due to the new food amounts and feeding timetable.
- Trout Unlimited Hats Pete ordered 4-dozen embroidered hats from a local shop; they will be available for sale at the banquet on April 4th.
C. Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire
- Newsletter Nick proposed inserting an extra page in the Newsletter that will go out prior to the banquet. The extra page would include a copy of the “BANQUET FLYER”, and copies of “INDIVIDUAL” and “CORPORATE” table packages being offered again this year. Board members discussed it and all agreed it would be a good idea.
- 2009 Banquet - TV Raffle Tickets Jeff collected tickets that were sold the past month. Tom and Carol Jochman reported the television purchased for the raffle will be a Sylvania 42-inch LCD type TV with High Definition.
- Banquet Flyer - Nick passed is working on the flyer and it should be ready for distribution this week.
- Card Raffle The prize at the card raffle table will be a GAME CAMERA by Moultrie
- Rod Raffle Prizes will include rods by Orvis and Sage plus a special 4 pc Rod & Reel
- Giant Bucket Raffle Prizes:
- Bamboo Fly Rod (proceeds to benefit the nursery)
- Damascus Knife
- Shopping Spree
- Orvis Mach 3 Reel & Ross Reel
- Mossburgh Camo Color Shotgun
- GPS Unit (Tom-Tom Brand)
- HMS Vise & Lamp with magnifying glass for Fly-Tying
- Other Prizes Other prizes include the items donated to Dick Rickert via Bob Shuey
- Table Arrangements Nick would like to have space for at least 200 people, so he will eliminate the “BAG THE TROUT” bean bag toss game to save space. All of the tables will accommodate eight people.
- Speaker System It was suggested we should borrow a wireless microphone system so the presenter could be heard from all corners of the banquet room. Last year it was difficult to hear.
- Table Favors The chocolate trout-shaped candies were discussed and everyone agreed we should have them again this year (Pete Anthony will order these).
- Alcoholic Drinks - Cash Bar Patrons will be able to order whatever they choose and pay Shenango Valley Civic Center regular prices.
- Soft Drinks Soft drinks will be free of charge; Nick will ask the owners to run a “tab” so that we can reimburse them for all of the soft drink costs.
D. Membership Tom Jochman
E. Youth Coordinator Aaron Monroe
- Aaron reported that a friend of last year’s participant asked for an application for this spring. Jeff Kremis offered to deliver an application to a youth named Cianci. The deadline for applications to be in is March 15th.
