A. Watershed Coordinator Jeff Kremis/Jim Mondok
- Wolf Creek Flow Improvement Jeff reported that WCO Jeff Giardina is coordinating information with Ken Anderson from the Pa Fish & Boat Commission. Ken will evaluate whether a narrowing of the stream channel in Wolf Creek will improve the stream flow rate, and help eliminate silt and sedimentation buildup. The “Children’s and Handicapped Fishing Area” is deteriorating due to low water levels.
- Children’s Fishing Derby Wolf Creek Pete Anthony reported the stream conditions in Wolf Creek as they were at the end of January. The stream area immediately in front of the Handicapped deck is completely silted over, making it impossible to fish there. He recommended we cancel the event this April, and ask the Grove City Maintenance Department to dredge it out with their backhoe.
Jeff suggested we wait for Ken Anderson’s report before contacting Grove City Maintenance. We discussed the problems in the stream, and Nick Loprire made a motion to cancel the event this year. Bill Fay seconded it, and the motion passed.
- Work Day / Deer Creek Project - The Deer Creek Consortium members set a date for a workday on August 29th. They will work on Phase II of their project which involves creating a 60 foot long modified mud sill, and a 20 to 25 foot long Multi-log Vane Deflector.
- Pa Legislator’s Breakfast Jeff reported that Pa area legislators would hold a breakfast meeting on February 7th at the Stone Arch Restaurant in Greenville; anyone interested in attending should contact Jeff.
B. Nursery Pete Anthony & Ken Tarczy
- Trout Nursery Seminar The yearly seminar will be held in Oil City on Saturday March 14th; anyone interested in attending should contact Pete.
- 3CU Trout Nursery Since their fish have a disease, they cannot transport any Trout outside of Erie County this year.
- New Feeding Schedule There is no noticeable change in Trout growth due to the new food amounts and feeding timetable.
- Trout Unlimited Hats Pete reviewed the costs for embroidered hats from a local shop. The board members agreed the price was very good, and agreed to order 4-dozen hats. Nick Loprire will check to see if the logo from our 25th Anniversary coffee mugs is available in jpeg format to send to the hat supplier.
