A. Watershed Coordinator Jeff Kremis/Jim Mondok
- Cool Spring Creek Jeff reported that there is a large tree lying across the stream in the BIG OAK HOLE. Its branches need to be trimmed, and then it needs to be secured to the stream bank.
- "Access Locations" for Fishing & Boating / WCO Jeffrey Giardina Jeff told us that he would like to have two or three more “access locations” be developed in Mercer County. Currently the only official Pa Fish & Boat Commission access location in the county is the one in West Middlesex. Jeff said that new access locations could be used for canoe launches, boat launches, fishing access, or all three functions. Jeff suggested we think about where Neshannock TU Chapter would like to have “access locations” be developed.
B. Nursery Pete Anthony & Ken Tarczy
C. Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire
- 2009 Banquet - TV Raffle These tickets would be sold prior to the banquet. Nick priced a 42-inch Sony Visio TV, and said it would cost approximately $750. At that cost, we would need to sell 150 tickets to break even, and any ticket sales after that number would be profit. We also discussed limiting the total number of tickets sold to entice more customers; the number of tickets sold would be printed on the face of the tickets.
- 2009 Banquet 50/50 Raffle These tickets would be sold the day of the banquet, and not before; the winner would be attending the banquet. We would use regular ticket stubs off of a colored roll, and we would save the cost of printing special tickets.
- Newsletter Mailing Labels Carol Jochman brought mailing stickers for the fall newsletter mailing; Jim Mondok offered to drop them off at Rafferty’s Print Shop.
- Newsletter Ads - Jeff Kremis will send a letter this fall asking for donations from the companies that advertise on the back of the Newsletter.
- Newsletter Recipients List Tom Jochman explained the 375-Person mailing list he put together from our past mailings, and the latest member listing from TU National. We discussed ways to pare down his list to save money, and decided to break it down into three parts by zip code. Three of the board members volunteered to look at 1/3 of the list and then exchange it for another 1/3, etc. After passing around the parts three times, the board members will have looked at the total listing. The purpose of scrutinizing the list is to eliminate deceased members, and, also, those who do not wish to receive the news.
Some recipients would also be receptive to getting the news via e-mail, and we could confirm that by questioning the 154 people with e-mail addresses. Jeff said that as long as we are left with 150 people, we would qualify for a bulk rate at the US Post Office.
D. Membership Tom Jochman
- National Website Search Function - Aaron Monroe explained why Neshannock Chapter 216 could not be found by performing a search request on the National web site. The search function fails because our chapter president (Aaron) has an Ohio zip code. We need to list a Pa resident as a contact person to get this straightened out. Jeff Kremis volunteered to be the contact person, and everyone agreed. Jeff’s listing should solve the problem.
