C. Deer Creek Consortium – Pete Anthony

  • The consortium drew up plans for stream improvement on Deer Creek. It will take 2 months for approval.  September 6, 2008 is target date for start of project.  Neshannock TU should consider sending a member to their meeting. How could we help and support them with this project? We could help with deflectors, cribs, and a possible workday. Currently we stock 100 – 150 fish per year in Deer Creek.  Fish commission has a 10 year easement. Brad Stahlsmith would be willing to make this a perpetual easement. Hopefully this could become a catch & release area.

D. May 10 Outing at Oil Creek Petroleum Center

  • No rain date.  Nick will bring food, Pete will bring coffee & doughnuts

E. Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire

  • Nick submitted a list of good / bad results for banquet. Approximately 50 – 60 more people in attendance. Sound system needs improved. Better seating.  Security? Better head count.  Do not publish beer / liquor prices. Possible alternate banquet location?  More in depth discussion might be held with banquet committee at a time other than board meeting

F. Membership – Tom Jochman

G. Youth Coordinator – Dick Rickert

  • 2008 Wolf Creek Fishing Derby – Derby was huge success with 72 kids.
  • 4 fly rods valued at $995.00 were donated by Angel Otero
  • Kyle Petty was accepted to youth camp. Chapter will submit $275.00 for his registration
  • Trout in the classroom – Mercer Schools were a NO GO. Laurel High School would like to participate and will fill out the application.  In the fall, Dick Rickert and the teacher from Laurel High School will have to go to a one day meeting for the 10 quality goals of education.  Laurel High School will pay for the teacher’s expenses and the chapter will pay for Dick Rickert’s gas. Laurel High School will receive their equipement at this meeting. If  our TU board wants to go forward, the chapter will be responsible for a one time cost of $500.00.  Once the school is approved, they will own all of the equipment.  Jeff suggested a $750.00 donation that was accepted.
