In Attendance:

1. Opening Comments – Aaron Monroe
  • Meeting Room – We met in Room #108 for the first time; the accommodations were great, and there were nice large tables for us to use.
  • Mercer County Federation of Sportsman Membership Talk – Aaron invited their President, Bob Fordyce to give us a talk, but he did not show up for the meeting.
2. Minutes from Last Meeting – Aaron Monroe
  • The minutes were approved with the changes from Pete Anthony
3. Treasurer’s Report – Jeff Kremis
  • Budget - Jeff reviewed his budget report for the period ending January 31st.
  • Chapter Memorial Fund – It was decided to place the $95 in funds donated in honor of member Stanley Wojtowiatcz into the Coolspring Fund when the fund comes due for renewal.
4. Committee Reports:

A. Watershed Coordinator – Jeff Kremis/Jim Mondok

  • Spring Workday – The date is set for March 29th at Cool Spring Creek (rainout date is April 26th).  We will do some stream repairs plus conduct an Adopt-A-Highway cleanup if enough members show up.

B. Nursery – Pete Anthony

  • Trout Stocking – Pete reported that 200 Browns and 1 Golden Rainbow Trout were stocked in Neshannock Creek February 25th.

C. Reverse Raffle – Tom and Carole Jochman

  • No Report

D. Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire

  • Nick Loprire discussed various items about the upcoming April 5th banquet including: 
    1. Methods to improve ticket sales – Bob Shuey suggested we send out flyers with information on the banquet to the 1800 people who visit his www.ncflyshop.com website.  Tom Jochman volunteered to send the proper information to Bob Shuey who will make sure it gets sent to his visitors.  Tom will also send the Banquet Flyer to our “chapter membership” e-mail listing.
    2. Chapter Website Advertising – We discussed different ways to increase the amount of banquet advertising on our website.
    3. Special Sponsors – Tom and Carol Jochman reviewed the “Silver” and “Gold” Corporate Table Packages, and also the “Rainbow”, “Brown”, and Brook Trout” Individual Sponsorships that will be available for the banquet this year.
    4. Banquet Prizes – Nick talked about various prizes that may be offered at this year’s banquet.  Some of them are:
      • “Zero Gravity” fly rod from Orvis

E. Membership – Tom Jochman (Tom was absent)

  • Board Member Listing – Tom updated the board member listing to include Ken Tarczy and Reg McClelland.

F. Youth Coordinator – Dick Rickert

  • 2008 Wolf Creek Fishing Derby – Dick reported good progress on the April 19th event; he is still working on getting the required number of raffle prizes for the kids.
  • Conservation & Fly Fishing Camp – He is waiting for an application to be returned to him for this event.

  • Jeff Kremis reported he would send a letter of support to National TU for the changes to the Hard Rock Mining Laws used in the Western states.
