1. Opening Comments – Aaron Monroe
  • Skipped in the interest of saving time
2. Minutes from Last Meeting – Aaron Monroe
  • The minutes were approved as written.
3. Treasurer’s Report – Jeff Kremis
  • Budget - Jeff covered his budget report ending September 30th; the report will be filed for future audit purposes.
  • End of Fiscal Year report - He also reviewed an “End of Fiscal Year” report, which compared this year against last year.  It was good news; we were only off last year’s spending by $150.
  • Chapter credit card  - Jeff requested a status report on the request for a chapter credit card from National City Bank.  R. Natoli will contact Carol Jochman for the information.
  • National TU Report – Jeff reviewed volunteer hours he needs to report to TU along with his annual report, and the board members helped fill in some blanks:
    1. Conservation Work – 72 hours
    2. Youth Fish Derby at Wolf Creek – 60 hours
    3. Nursery and Trout Stocking – 1500 hours
    4. Open Houses / Munnell Run Farm – 24 hours
    5. Newsletter – 30 hours
    6. Fundraising – 200 hours
    7. General Operations – 324 hours
    8. Monthly meetings – 18 hours
4. Committee Reports:

A. Watershed Coordinator – Jeff Kremis/Jim Mondok

  • Fall Workday Report – On Saturday, October 6th we tied some fallen tree trunks down (in the stream) on Coolspring Creek.  We need to go back there and secure them with more steel cables to prevent them moving under high water conditions.  Pete Anthony said he has more cable available for that job.
  • Chapter E-Mail Listing – Jeff requested an electronic copy of Membership Chairman Tom Jochman’s list of chapter members.  He would like to send out e-mail notices to them prior to the next workday; the only people who showed up on October 6th were board members.

B. Nursery – Pete Anthony

  • Fall Stocking – Cool Spring, Neshannock, and Deer Creek was stocked in October, and Little Sandy Creek will be scheduled for November.

C. Reverse Raffle – Tom and Carole Jochman

  • The board members reiterated that Tom and Carol should be reimbursed for any expenses they incurred obtaining prizes for the raffle.

D. Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire

  • March 2008 Banquet - Nick discussed various aspects of the March 2008 banquet to solicit board member input.  He reviewed possible menu items, tablecloths, bartender cost, and possible ticket price revisions.  The tentative date is March 22, and it will be held at the Corinthian Banquet Center in Sharon.  The Corinthian does not allow hanging of banners or displays on their walls.  Our event signs will be attached to the table front edges, and we need to come up with some stand ideas to display our large TU Banner.
  • Other Fundraising Ideas – We discussed a possible fall outing during football season.  A 13-foot wide flat screen TV could be rented to air a popular Pa college football game to attract a lot of TU members.  Horseshoes and a barbecue are also possibilities.  We would need someone to sell beer, and security to insure safety of our participants.  The Shriner’s Club in Hermitage was mentioned as a good location.

E. Membership – Tom Jochman (Tom was absent)

  • No Report

F. Youth Coordinator – Dick Rickert

  • 2008 Youth Fly Fishing Camp – Dick is waiting for information on the 2008 youth camp, and he has a youth in mind for that event.
5. Old Business:
  • Deer Creek Revitalization Project – Pete Anthony reported that the Pa Fish & Boat Commission approved the Deer Creek Project.  They will need help in implementing their plans for stream deflectors and other improvements to their stream.  Pete asked the board if we would be willing to help them with volunteer hours, and the reply was affirmative.
6. New Business:
  • Nothing Important
