A. Watershed Coordinator Jeff Kremis/Jim Mondok (Jeff was absent)
- West Neshannock Creek Pete Anthony reported Jeff Kremis informed him we have a disgruntled landowner who is upset about fisherman parking on his property. As a result of that, the Fish Commission is not stocking that stretch of stream.
B. Nursery Pete Anthony
- Nursery Repairs Pete reported that Jim Noble and Ken Tarczy used white paint to refurbish the outside of the nursery building.
- Trout at the Nursery Approximately 2000 trout are in the raceway this year; their average length is approximately seven inches.
- Fall Stocking Deer Creek, Neshannock Creek (behind the Fly Shop), and the Coolspring DHALO area will be scheduled for fall stocking in October or November.
- Coolspring RR bed trail Pete reported landowner Bill Graham’s comments about the drainage culvert that allows water to drain across the old railroad bed trail. Bill said that the gravel has been washed out along the sides of the culvert and the gravel should be replaced. We had a discussion about replacing the existing steel culvert with a plastic one because the bottom of the pipe is rusted badly and that is resulting in a washout.
R. Natoli made a motion to replace the rusted steel culvert with an 18-inch diameter plastic one (cost of $130.00) and replace the gravel. N. Loprire seconded the motion and it passed.
C. Reverse Raffle Tom and Carole Jochman
- Raffle Cancelled Tom said that we did not sell enough tickets to break even, so the raffle is being cancelled.
- Refund Policy Credit Cards - The people who used a credit card to pay for their tickets do not have to do anything; their cards were not charged and no refunds are due.
- Refund Policy Personal Checks Those people who sent checks would either get a refund check in the mail, or get their original (not cashed) checks returned to them.
- What went wrong / what could we do better next time? The board members had a discussion about what we could do to sell more tickets if we decide to hold this type of fundraiser in the future.
D. Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire
- Landowner liability Pennsylvania law was amended in 2007 and states that fisherman injured on a landowner’s property cannot sue the landowner. The law was written to protect the landowner. Nick said that he would put a short article about this in our fall newsletter.
E. Membership Tom Jochman
F. Youth Coordinator Dick Rickert
- Dick reported that he has 13 year Kyle Petty lined up for next spring’s Youth Fly Fishing Camp in eastern Pa.
