1. Opening Comments – Aaron Monroe
  • October 24th Meeting Agenda - The meeting agenda did not get sent out to the board members because Aaron is having a glitch when he selects”Group” e-mail addresses on his personal computer.
2. Minutes from Last Meeting – Dick Natoli
  • Accepted as read
3. Treasurer’s Report – Jeff Kremis
  • Monthly Budget Report – Jeff reviewed the budget report ending September 30th and he also reviewed the $2100 the Chapter donated for the year 2005.
  • TU National Financial Report – Jeff discussed the financial report which is due to TU National Headquarters by December 1st
4. Committee Reports:
A. Watershed Coordinator – Jeff Kremis/Jim Mondok
  • October 16th Workday – Tree branches that were lying in the stream at Cool Spring were removed. George Jr. School from Grove City said they were reluctant to send any youth volunteers due to the cold weather. Bob Shuey said the YCC School in Lawrence County would be willing to send youth volunteers, and we should ask them the next time we need help.
  • Bridge at the Beagle Club’s Property – Jim Mondok reported that the area 300 yards upstream of the old bridge location might be a good site for a new bridge. The new bridge length would have to be 1.5 times the original length and the height would have to be established by the 100-year floodplain water level. Jim asked one of their board members, Joe Morris, to find out if the club would be willing to move the bridge to the upstream location.
  • Macro Invertebrate study class - The class was cancelled due to lack of participants from the Shenango River Watchers Group.

B. Nursery – Pete Anthony

  • Nursery Budget – The dollar amount came down $200 due to failure of the window grant-funding request.
  • Funuculous Bacteria Problem – Cecil Houser visited the Nursery to help with this problem, and they decided to treat the raceway water with salt.
  • Trout Stocking – We may have to stock some fish at the end of December due to over crowding in the raceway

C. Cabin Fever - Dick Natoli

  • Tabled until November’s meeting

D. Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire

  • Nursery Anniversary – Nick asked Pete Anthony for his list of volunteers who have worked at the Munnell Run Trout Nursery for the past 10 years. They will be recognized at the March 2006 Banquet, and in our Newsletter.
  • Pa Trout Print – “Sting of the Hook” is on sale from Pa Trout; it was suggested we purchase a print for our auction at the banquet. Bob Shuey volunteered to get a price (framed and unframed) through his Fly Fishing Shop.
  • Banquet Items for Auction – Bob Shuey said he would bring items from his shop on consignment; that way he could take them back if we were unable to sell them. We also discussed some new ideas for items to raffle off:
    1. 22 Gauge Squirrel Rifle with Scope
    2. Fly Tying Kit
    3. Top-of-the-Line Fly Fishing Vest
    4. Cash Prizes other than the 50 / 50 Raffle

E. Membership – Tom Jochman

  • No Report because Tom was absent

E. Youth Coordinator – Dick Rickert

  • Dick reported that he received “Thank You” cards and notes from this year’s participants in the 2005 Youth Fly Fishing Camp. It was suggested that they might be able to recommend some of their peers for next year’s camp.
5. Old Business:
  • Polo Shirts – R. Natoli passed out the Polo Shirts with embroidered TU logos. The board chose the Sand / Black Pinstripe color combination for the shirts
  • TU Parking Lot Resurfacing at Cool Spring Creek – Bill Fay reported that he is purchasing a new truck to haul his front-end loader. Once he gets the truck, he will be able to help us out with grading the lot.
6. New Business:
  • Request for a donation – A TU member asked Jeff Kremis if our Chapter would consider donating some funds to help the Oil Creek Chapter pay for a roadway they installed. The new roadway will make it easier to access Oil Creek for future fish stockings. This discussion was “TABLED” until the November meeting.
  • MCCD Directors – Jim Rust’s term for Farmer-Director is going to expire and he needs a nomination from our chapter for another term of office. Also, Bob Shuey made a motion to nominate our TU board member Jeff Kremis as an “At Large Director”. Dick Rickert seconded the motion, and it passed. So we will also submit paperwork for Jeff to be a MCCD Director.
