In Attendance:

A. Monroe, J. Mondok, N. Loprire, T. Jochman, J. Kremis and R. Natoli

1. Opening Comments – Aaron Monroe
  • Mercer County Youth Conservation Banquet – Aaron asked if anyone would like to attend the banquet this year with Ken Tarczy. No members at the meeting were able to attend due to previous commitments.
2. Minutes from Last Meeting – Dick Natoli
  • Accepted as read
3. Treasurer’s Report – Jeff Kremis
  • Monthly Budget Report – Jeff reviewed the budget report ending August 31st and he also reviewed our “actual spending vs. budgeted dollars” report
  • FNB Bank Changes – Our bank notes will change from “FNB Term Notes” to the newly formed “FNB Financial Services L.P.”
  • Coolspring Fund – A footnote will be added to the Budget that says “The dollars in the Coolspring Fund are earmarked for the Fox Run Project”
  • 2005 Chapter Donations – The Board Members agreed to donate the following amounts:
    1. Munnell Run Farm - $1000
    2. Pennsylvania TU - $400
    3. 3 CU / Bob Hetz - $300
    4. Shenango River Watchers - $100
    5. Lawrence County Chapter of Pa Clean Ways - $100
       
      Jeff Kremis made a motion to accept the above list of donations and Tom Jochman seconded it. The motion passed.
4. Committee Reports:
A. Watershed Coordinator – Jeff Kremis/Jim Mondok
  • October 16th Workday – Jeff suggested we repair the Wolf Creek stream deflectors in Grove City, and the “Adopt-A-Highway” cleanup in Mercer.
  • Bridge at the Beagle Club’s Property – Jim Mondok volunteered to get an estimate for the engineering design cost and for the materials cost to put in a new bridge at the Beagle Club property. Jim said the permit would cost $200.
  • Fox Run Project – No change in status; still waiting to hear if the grant was approved per Jim Mondok
  • Deeper Holes in Coolspring – The board discussed ways to provide better fish cover by creating some deeper holes in the stream. One of the ways to do it is build a Jack Dam.
  • Shenango River Watchers – Jim Mondok reported that several members of this group would attend a Macro Invertebrate study class at the MCCD office on October 8th. Jim will be teaching the class.

B. Nursery – Pete Anthony

  • Nursery Budget – Aaron asked the members to approve Pete’s revisions to the 2005-2006 budget for the Munnell Run Nursery. Tom Jochman made a motion to accept the revised budget, Jim Mondok seconded it, and the motion passed.
  • Request to show DVD Presentation of Wolf Creek Fishing Derby – Aaron told the group that Pete wanted to show his DVD presentation of the children fishing, and the improvements to Wolf Creek. Everyone agreed that we should use the DVD at the March 2006 Banquet.

C. Cabin Fever - Dick Natoli

  • Tabled until November’s meeting

D. Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire

  • Nursery Anniversary – Nick suggested we recognize our Munnell Run Trout Nursery for its 10th Anniversary at the banquet. We also talked about an article for our Neshannock Chapter Newsletter.
  • Pa Trout Print – “Sting of the Hook” is on sale from Pa Trout; it was suggested we purchase a print for our auction at the banquet
  • Jochman’s Fishing Trip out West – Tom will answer questions from attendees about the fishing trip he purchased at last years banquet

E. Membership – Tom Jochman

  • No Report

E. Youth Coordinator – Dick Rickert

  • No Report because Dick was absent
5. Old Business:
  • Polo Shirts – R. Natoli reviewed the costs for Polo Shirts with embroidered TU logos. The board chose the Sand/Black Pinstripe color combination for the shirts. The sample embroidered logo was shown, and the board recommended the logo be made approximately 25% smaller. The board will pay for the cost of the shirts for board members.
  • Community Service Work at the Nursery – Aaron invited a local area Pa resident to do service work at the Nursery, and, also, our chapter workdays.
  • Coolspring Creek Parking Lot – Jeff Kremis will contact fellow board member Bill Fay to see if Bill can level the parking lot with his front-end loader at the October 16th workday.
