A. Watershed Coordinator Jeff Kremis/Jim Mondok
- July 16th Workday The following items are on the agenda:
- Coolspring Parking Lot - Bill Fay will handle this task when he has time to bring his front-end loader down to spread the gravel. Pete Anthony will order the gravel and coordinate with Bill.
- Old steel culvert pipe Jeff will contact Bob Shuey to see if the township will pick it up. It is in the parking lot at Neshannock Creek Covered Bridge road.
- Construction of a walking bridge We need to build a bridge along the path on the West side of Coolspring Creek near the Glory Hole. We need to consider that Boll Graham’s “Brush Hog Equipment” needs to be able to straddle the bridge so Bill can easily navigate the path.
- Pathway Brush Hogging prior to workday- Pete Anthony said he would schedule Bill Graham to brush hog the paths prior to the workday; this will make it much easier to work on the bridge.
- Fox Run Project Jim said that Phase I plan was originally estimated at 20 gallons per minute discharge rate and Phase II plan estimates treating 1300 gallons per minute. This flow rate may be a problem because there is not enough land available for wetland construction that will treat 1300 gal/min. The precipitate is 7 grams per milliliter of Ferrous Iron, and if the wetland does its job, the precipitate will be reduced to 1 gram per milliliter.
The Fish and Wildlife Commission will donate $26,000 for the project, and, because of this, Neshannock Chapter may not have to contribute any funds.
B. Nursery Pete Anthony
- Coolspring DHALO stocking 250 Trout were put in on Friday, May 20th
- Neshannock Creek Fly shop stocking 300 Brown Trout from Bob Hetz’s 3CU Nursery will be put in on May 24th. These fish were leftover and Bob was kind enough to call Pete and ask if we could use them. Pete recommends we give a $1.00 per fish donation back to Bob to help cover the cost of raising the Trout.
- Grants from the Fish Commission Pete would like to submit a grant request for money to replace three windows at the Nursery, and also to build a storage box on the fish trailer. The storage box would hold the trailer spare tire, some tools, a tire jack, and some emergency flares.
C. Cabin Fever - Dick Natoli

E. Youth Coordinator Dick Rickert
- May 14th Children’s Fishing Derby at Wolf Creek 35 youth attended the derby and everything went very smoothly. It was a success and Dick thanked all of the board members and volunteers that helped out. He also wrote a thank-you note to the ambulance service, which was standing by in case of an accident.
- Derby cost Dick reported that after the leftover funds from 2004 were spent, the derby ended up costing us $220 “out-of-pocket”.
- Chapter Fly Rod Setup Bob Shuey deserves a heart felt “Thank You” for setting up five of our chapter fly rods with line, leaders, and tippet material. Two of these outfits will be used by the youth attending the Youth Fly Fishing Camp in Allenberry this year.
- New responsibilities for Dick He reported that he was nominated and accepted to be “Clerk of Session” at his Presbyterian church in Greenville. This position carries a lot of responsibility and should keep Dick very busy. He still wants to remain as our Youth Coordinator, but said he would need more help from the other board members going forward.
