  • Pete Anthony made a motion: Donate $5000 from our Coolspring Settlement Fund to the Mercer County Conservation District to aid MCCD in resolving the Fox Run acid mine problem. The donation will be made under the following conditions:
    1. The monies will be encumbered (committed, promised) by Neshannock Chapter TU, but not given to MCCD until such time it meets conditions #2, & 3.
    2. MCCD will be given the whole or partial amount only if needed as a Supplement to its monies obtained from grants or other sources.
    3. The monies will be encumbered for a period not to exceed two years from the date of the approval of this motion. However, the Board reserves the right to extend this period.
  • DISCUSSION: Jim Mondok said that Stream Restorations Group out of Butler County re-submitted a Growing Greener Grant to try and obtain the necessary funds. He said they will probably need $20,000 to $30,000 to complete the project; and Phase II of the project may involve constructing more wetlands and bringing in more limestone. Tom Jochman suggested the entire board of directors visit the site and walk through the proposed changes with the people who are most knowledgeable about this project. Jim Mondok will check on doing that and report back to the board. Action on the motion was tabled.
