1. Opening Comments – Aaron Monroe
  • Board Meeting Schedule for 2005 – Aaron reviewed his list of Board Meeting Dates for the year 2005, and asked for comments or changes that may be needed. Jeff Kremis added a workday on April 9, 2005.
2. Minutes from Last Meeting – Dick Natoli
  • Reading of the minutes was dispensed with since they were mailed previously mailed to all of the board members
3. Treasurer’s Report – Jeff Kremis
  • Monthly Budget Report – Jeff reviewed the budget ending November 2004.
4. Committee Reports:
A. Watershed Coordinator – Jeff Kremis/Jim Mondok
  • Request from Mercer County WCO Joe Morris – Joe requested we cleanup debris that got stuck in trees and bushes along Wolf Creek from the bridge on Main St to the end of the Handicapped Fishing Project area.
  • Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup – Pete Anthony reminded us that we should schedule a workday to cleanup Scrubgrass Road twice a year

B. Nursery – Pete Anthony

  • Bacteria Problem – Pete reported that the bacterium that was affecting the fish is under control, and the average size of the fish at the last inspection was over nine inches.
  • March Fish Stocking – Pete needs volunteers for this fish stocking; anyone who can help out should e-mail Pete at gpanthony@pathway.net

C. Cabin Fever - Dick Natoli

  • Speakers – It was decided to hire Don Matthews to speak about Steelhead Fishing in the Tributaries of Lake Erie.
  • TU Membership and 50/50 tickets for the March Banquet – Tom Jochman and Dick Natoli
  • Stream maps - Left over from last years banquet
  • Accommodations – Nick asked if we could rent the entire hall so we could separate the speakers from the rest of the event (Dick Natoli to check with Bob Zikmund).
  • Advertising Flyer – Do a preliminary flyer and send it to Nick Loprire (Natoli). Tom Jochman can e-mail the flyer to all the members on his computer list, and we can post them inside local restaurants and business places.
  • Demonstration Tables:
    1. Fly Tying and “Fly Line-to-Leader” attachment technique – Nick Loprire
    2. Knot Tying – Larry Wynkoop
    3. Antique Flies – Pete Anthony
    4. Unusual Photographs / Stories – Open to all
  • Date Conflict with Laurel High School Nite Out? – Tom Jochman will check on this
  • Voting / Board Members – Both Nick Loprire and Bill Fay will be re-elected to another term as Board Members. If anyone knows of a new person who would like to serve as a board member, please let us know.

D. Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire

  • Newsletter - Nick is looking for articles to be used in the January 10th issue of the Newsletter; anyone with an interesting article should e-mail it to Nick at the following address - steelhd789@aol.com
  • Banquet events and prizes were discussed:
    1. Two shopping spree prizes instead of one this year
    2. Basket of home made food items – Everyone to bring an item for the basket
    3. Bean Bag Toss or Dice game (Natoli to send Nick the rules of the Dice Game)
    4. Possible 2nd prize of a gun (“Proof of Winner” form letter to be given to gun winners will be typed up by Tom Jochman)
    5. Split Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod as major prize
    6. Peak & Peak Ski Package – Dick Rickert to follow-up
    7. Five Night Fly Fishing Trip to Montana – Start Bidding at $1000
    8. Cabelas Shopping Spree – Tom Jochman will check with their Wheeling, West Virginia store to ask for information
    9. Table Prizes – Possible to win tickets for the Bucket Raffle or a $20 voucher for tickets of their choice
    10. Steelhead Trip – Aaron to check with Don Matthews

E. Membership – Tom Jochman

  • Nothing new to report

E. Youth Coordinator – Dick Rickert

  • Laurel High School Visit - Dick gave a talk to the Sportsman’s Club and praised the school administration for their conservation efforts.
  • Boy Scout Merit Badge – The board members who completed forms for the merit badge will have to fill out one more; Dick will bring them to the January 10th meeting

F. Wolf Creek Project - Dick Natoli

  • Signs for project – We are waiting for Barry Spiker who runs the Public Works Department at Grove City to do the engraved letters for the large upper sign.
5. Old Business:
  • MCCD Farmer / Director Nominations – Done
  • McCandless Ford Display – Pete was not able to put up the display but wants to do it next year
6. New Business:
  • Christmas Cards - Dick Natoli will send Christmas cards to the landowners near Cool Spring Creek and Neshannock Creek
