- Welcome to new board member Bob Shuey We gave Bob Schuey a big welcome as the newest member of our Board of Directors
- Live Bait Issue on Pa DHALO Streams from June 15 to Sept 15 Bob Schuey attended the May meeting on this issue in Pittsburgh and he reported that the consensus of opinion is to keep the rules the same as they are now; not enough people are pushing for the change to live bait.
Chapter Project ideas:
- Coolspring Creek “Glory Hole” Pete said that the Lamprey is an endangered species, but their spawning season is from May 15th to July 1st (we will be OK in August). Jim Mondok and Bob McDonald from the MCCD will monitor the project to make sure we only remove 8 inches of rock below the water level on that day. Jim said we could use the rock that is removed to repair either stream bank. The core of engineers was expected to approve the project on July 8, 2004. Doug Pears will be hired to do the job with his Front End Loader and he charges $50 an hour; Pete estimated the job to take two days.
- Coolspring Creek Assessment Table until November when the grants are submitted
- Coolspring Creek Gabion Basket Schedule a workday with the Beagle Club to finish filling the basket at the swinging bridge with rock (Jeff Kremis will coordinate). Tom Jochman motioned to have the workday August 14th with a rain date of the 21st; Bob Schuey 2nd the motion and it passed.

A. Watershed Coordinator Jeff Kremis/Jim Mondok
- Neshannock Creek Covered Bridge Area Roadway Bob Schuey reported that the stocking truck almost got stuck in the mud at the soft spot 100 feet prior to the conduit drain. We need to add some rock in that spot to stabilize the roadway; Jeff Kremis will contact Stoyer’s Nursery to see if they can haul some rock to that spot with a small dump truck. Also the steel culvert that we removed needs to be cut up with an acetylene torch and hauled away (check Bill Fay to see if he knows someone with a torch that will help us out).
B. Nursery Pete Anthony
- Budget - Pete reported the Nursery spent a total of $763 against a budget of $957 so far this year, and he submitted an expenditures report to Jeff Kremis.
- Nursery Trout Delivered - The fingerling Trout for this growing season were delivered to the nursery on Monday, June 28.
- Exchanged Generator - Tom Jochman delivered the exchanged generator with more wattage capacity to the Nursery. Tom exchanged our first purchase for the higher capacity model. It is a portable one with wheels on it for ease of moving it down to the stream.
- Donated Fish 3CU donated 236 Trout that were 2-3 year old fish; Pete stocked them in Neshannock Creek.
- New Policy on Stocking - Pete will no longer announce the exact location of the fish we are going to stock this year; so the fisherman will have to “find the fish” themselves. The Fall stocking this year will be the week of October 10th.
- Steelhead Smoltz Bob Hetz does not recommend stocking them in our local streams; the stream selected should be a tributary of Lake Erie in order for the fish to survive.
- Munnell Run Farm The farm is going to receive a grant that will pay for “Re-Design” of the farm and layout per Jim Mondok.
- Wolf Creek Project Tom Hopkins wrote an article for “Fish & Field Report” that explains the Wolf Creek Project; Tom is a member of TU and often helps Pete with fish stocking.
- Brush Hogging on Cool Spring Paths Bill Graham recently brush hogged the paths on Cool Spring and did a great job again. Natoli made a motion to pay Bill $150 for the work; it was 2nd by Jochman, and the motion passed.
C. Cabin Fever / Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire
- Wolf Creek Article for Pa Trout Magazine Nick reported that he still needs the digital photographs from the May 22nd canceled Fishing Derby (Jim Mondok).
- Banquet Donation Bob Schuey brought a beautiful “Schooner in a Case” donated by John Boro; it will be used at next year’s banquet (Natoli to send a Thank You card to John).
D. Membership Tom Jochman
E. Youth Coordinator Dick Rickert
- Visit to Reynolds High School Dick reviewed his report for the Board; he said the reason he did not review it beforehand was because it was a quick request from the school.
F. Wolf Creek Project - Dick Natoli
- Sign for project The main sign would be constructed of Womanized Wood with letters carved out using a router. A second engraved plastic sign will hang below the first to list the “Contributors and Sponsors” that donated to the project. Dick will contact Mike Sember to get a cost for the second sign.
