In Attendance:

1. Opening Comments – Aaron Monroe
  • New TU Board Member Possibilities – Ron McHenry (Retired from Packard Electric) and Dick Rickert (Retired Reynolds school teacher)
  • Beagle Club meeting  - Wednesday, Feb 18th at 7:00 PM at the Beagle Club in Mercer
  • Wolf Creek Project – Plan a Spring 2004 event with the Grove City Sportsman’s Club
2. Minutes from Last Meeting – Dick Natoli
  • The minutes for the December 15th meeting were accepted as read except the “Rod Giveaway” was deleted from the Cabin Fever Notes.
3. Treasurer’s Report – Jeff Kremis
  • Jeff gave the Treasurers report for the period ending December 31, 2003.
  • Jeff summarized the donations that Neshannock Chapter has given dating back to 1975, and those records are “complete” back to 1988.  There was a motion to accept the records by R. Natoli, a second by N. Loprire, and the motion carried.
  • The “Personal Injury Consent Form” from TU National was brought up.  Do we need to use this on some of our projects?  Check with our John Gale from TU’s insurance group to find out (Natoli)
4. Committee Reports:
A. Watershed Coordinator – Jeff Kremis
  • Report waived to save time

B. Nursery – Pete Anthony

  • Pete’s “Wish List” will be reviewed at the next meeting to save time

C. Cabin Fever / Banquet / Newsletter - Nick Loprire

  • Cabin Fever Symposium – 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM Saturday, January 31st
    • Nick will e-mail his plans and charts for the 2003 event to Dick
    • Dick will prepare an agenda, floor plan, and “jobs list/required items” for this years event
    • Nick to bring VCR for the Wolf Creek Project tape and 2 tapes borrowed from Books & Hooks – we can run them for the first 1 1⁄2 hours
    • Prizes – Choose from the book “100 Best Trout Streams” or the Pheasant Hunt
    • Other Prizes - Gift Certificates from the Volant Fly Shop and Books & Hooks
    • Bring advertisement Flyers to Books & Hooks, and pick up Gift Certificates (Natoli)
    • Net Building Demo – Aaron
    • Rod Repair – Al Gyurek
    • Knot Tying Demo – Larry Wynkoop
    • Fly Tying Demo – Nick and Lenny Pitts
    • Pa Pheasant Hunt Prize – Check with Joe Segula to see what the cost would be for Joe to Guide a hunt for pheasants (Fay)
       
  • March Banquet – 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM Saturday, March 20th
    • Gift Certificates from Volant Fly Shop
    • Donated dried flower arrangement – Donna Natoli
    • Check on Books & Hooks “2-day fishing trip package” (Jochman)
    • Gun Raffles –Various options were discussed for the guns; we need to review this again at the February 23rd meeting to solidify the plans.
    • Dinner Certificates for area restaurants (Anthony and Natoli)
    • Spruce Creek Lodge weekend getaway for Steelhead fishing – Check with Mr. Harpster for a cost (Anthony)
    • Humidor and a dozen Cigars for Silent Auction (Natoli)
    • Golf Clubs – Check prices for a Driver and, or Putter (Kremis)
    • Steelhead Guide Certificate – Don Mathews or Lenny Pitts (Loprire)
    • Fishing with a Pittsburgh Steeler (Kremis)
    • Bring raffle tickets and 50/50 tickets to Fly Shops

D. Membership – Tom Jochman

  • Tom broke down the Chapter 216 members by State, by Major Cities, by Year joining, and by membership type (Family, Life, Senior, and Regular).  It was very interesting because we learned some things by analyzing the “Pie charts”
  • One interesting fact was that 25% of our membership is from Ohio
  • Also, the 5 largest membership cities were Hermitage, New Castle, Grove City, Greenville, and Mercer

E. Youth Coordinator – Jim Rafferty

  • Jim was absent
5. Wolf Creek:
  • Need to coordinate the Spring event for youth with the Grove City Sportsman’s Club (Natoli to send e-mail)
  • Nick Loprire will “extract” the December Newsletter Article on Wolf Creek, and send it to John Siebert so he can update our website (“Complete Wolf Creek Project Update”).
  • Nick also wants to write An article on Wolf Creek for PA TROUT magazine
6. Old Business:
  • Neshannock Chapter 216 Mailbox – Jeff  needs a member list “by Zip Code” with a count of members in that Code (Jochman)
7. New Business:
  • Youth Fly Fishing Camp – Applications must be in by March 15th; if anyone knows of a possible attendee, please contact one of our board members with the information.
