2002 Banquet Banquet News 2001 Banquet |
2002 Spring Banquet SummaryNick Loprire did another outstanding job coordinating the banquet. It was held at the VFW hall in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. We had about 160 attendees, and our invited guests were the landowners that live adjacent Cool Spring Creek in Mercer, Pa. Everyone enjoyed the buffet dinner, which included Sliced Beef with mushrooms, Chicken Marsala, and Stuffed Shells with red sauce. Some of the activities included a 50/50 raffle, a bucket raffle, a card raffle for fly rods, a silent auction, and demonstrations on fly tying. Our guest Fly Tiers were Greg Hoover and Dr. Charles Moxley. Dr. Moxley donated a beautifully crafted red, white, and blue Salmon Fly mounted in a handsome shadow box that was raffled off at the verbal auction. The Fly was done in remembrance of the events that took place on September 11th, and it was a duplicate of a shadow box that Dr Moxley recently donated to Vice President Dick Cheny (VP Cheny is an avid fly fisherman). Our website designer, John Siebert (JPS Design Group) took lots of digital photographs at the banquet, so visit our website and view the photos. We re-elected two of our current board members, Bill Fay and Nick Loprire, to another 3-year term. And we took advantage of the large number of members present to vote on some Chapter By-Law amendments. The following articles regarding board members were changed:
Jeff Kremis, our current Treasurer was the recipient of this years WELL DUN award; he received a beautiful Wheatley Fly Box with his name engraved on it. Jeff has held every office that we have on the board of directors, and he was the past president. He has been coordinating Stream Activities on Coolspring for the past five years, and last year he got us re-started doing Macro-Invertebrate studies of the insect population under the water. |
