TU Banquet30th Spring Banquet Information
April 5th, 2008

Nick Loprire - Banquet Chairman

Please mark your calendars for April 5th, 2008 to attend our 30th annual banquet. The festivities begin at 5:00pm. As previously noted the banquet has moved to the Shenango Valley Civic Center (SVCC) in downtown Sharon Pa. The SVCC is located on the corner of Shenango and Pitt Street just north of State Street in Sharon (map of location in a new window). The food is excellent and there will be plenty of free parking and room in the hall for us to enjoy each others company.

The regular ticket prices are the same (see order form). This year we are excited to offer a Sponsor Program. This is offered for individuals and on a corporate level. The Sponsor Ticket includes dinner, numerous raffle tickets, and portions of the cost are tax deductible. You can see details on our website www.neshannock-tu.org or email Tom Jochman and he can send the detail sheets. The Sponsor Ticket is a great value.

We will again have two accomplished fly tiers to dazzle those who haven’t done much of this art form. These gentlemen will also help solve many of your tying problems. Dave Schmezer of Latrobe, Pa and our own Charles Moxley will answer questions and demonstrate those techniques that confound many of us. Chuck is our chapter’s expert tier and most know him. Dave Schmezer lives in the Laurel Highlands near Latrobe. He has been tying for over 15 years. In that time he has tied at a number of FFF Conclaves and is a regular in the “Tiers Aisle” at many of the Eastern fly fishing shows. His patterns have been published in several books and magazines. Dave recently did a tying DVD “Unique Flies with Dave Schmezer”, with Jim and Kelly Watt. He has also taught classes at several local shops and teaches at home.

He is known for his unique flies and tying techniques, and his slightly different approach to teaching.

All the flies they tie will be auctioned at the end of the banquet. Trust me you wouldn’t get better patterns anywhere or from anyone.

The banquet will afford you opportunity to meet up with friends, plan a fishing trip, solve a fly tying problem and enjoy a great meal while supporting Nehannock TU to continue our efforts for area streams. If you didn’t make the banquet last year, make a new year’s resolution to go and support the chapter and the work we do. We hope to see you there at the SVCC. Tickets can be ordered through any board member (see newsletter for email and phone numbers) or the Neshanncok Creek Fly Shop or Benjamin's in Mercer or by sending the form below with a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope to the address noted. Let us know if you want information on being an individual or corporate sponsor.

We look forward to seeing you there. Maybe you will the big winner of the 50/50 raffle, a fine fly rod, or even a new sporting arm. The verbal auction of art work is always interesting. Remember to bring the kids and the wife. The kids are the future of the outdoors and the wife deserves a great meal and a fun night out.
